In Plain Sight: the new series about the Witness Protection Program

May 31st, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

The American Witness Protection Program is all about hiding people who have a price on their head and sounds like an interesting premise for the series, In Plain Sight, starting tomorrow.

Not only do these people need a new place to live, they need a totally new identity which ain’t easy to come by these days. That ”new identity” means not just abandoning friends and family but cutting off all ties with them forever.

Stressful for the relocatees? Sure, but also for those that are doing the relocating as the series following Mary will show because, of course, she can’t reveal what her real job is to anyone else either without putting those in the programme at risk.

USA Network’s new original series In Plain Sight certainly sounds like it’ll be worth catching. In the meantime, why not see if you can find the photo here on the site?

Why are more and more readers coming from America?

May 29th, 2008

It’s been ages since I looked at the detailed stats for this blog so it was something of a surprise that one place reckoned that 75% of the readership is in America.

I say one place because one place reckoned that as low as 25% were from there and that 16% were from India.

Of course, that’s the problem with web site statistics: none of them are really accurate. Bear in mind too that all of those that I looked at have a little stats marker on the site so they should all be in agreement!

To be fair, they’re not all measuring over exactly the same timescale but a few days out isn’t going to make a difference from 75% American readership to 25%. Some statistical errors are evident though so for example the American readership that Alexa guesses at 25% is higher than the British readership that they guess at 20% simply because their toolbar is more popular in the US (all the sensible stats places reckon that both countries are about equal).

However, it does seem clear that we’re getting more American readers than we used to and therefore I’m thinking that it’s time that Foreign Perspectives emmigrated to America itself so over the next week or two I’ll be moving the hosting for it.

Look of the Year: a modelling competition for the online world

May 29th, 2008

Look of the Year is basically a Miss World (or Mr Universe) for the online world.

However, there are a couple of important differences with this beauty contest… anyone who want to join can and rather than have some voting panel behind closed doors, your success is determined by people voting directly for you.

One indirect bonus of their approach is that you’re not necessarily thrown to the one side if you don’t win and might pick up a modelling contract if you’ve got the look that’s being sought by a model agency.
Winning categories are women/men  14-19 and women/men 19+ with a top 10 list coming out each month and the four overall winners being published on the 31st of December.

What are you waiting for? If you’re yound and beautiful, head on over to http://www.lookoftheyear.com for more information and to sign up.
