Aren’t the home theatre setups getting attactive these days?

We were shopping recently for a little TV for the bedroom and originally aiming for something like the little 14″ model that we bought some years ago yet found that in practice for much the same price we could pick up a 19″ LCD version. Now, you might think that’s just five inches larger than the previous model but thanks to the curvature of the old version it’s more like 7″ larger which in turn means it’s getting on for twice the screen size.

That massive increase in screen size is typical at all screen sizes and means that what were considered very large screens just a few years ago are quite commonplace on the supermarket shelves these days and at prices that are substantially lower as well.

One knock-on effect of this is that more and more people are getting to setups that would really benefit from home theater seating which only a few years back would have been considered very much the preserve of theatre junkies. How long can it be before we’re all converting our rooms into the full theatre experience with popcorn machines (available now at quite sensible prices) and the like?
