Import or sell: it all depends on the insurance
We’ve a Suzuki Ignis which the whole family love.
The problem is that it’s a French car and we’re in Northern Ireland now. To keep it here we’d need to make some changes to properly import it. Nothing major mind you: basically just the headlights and the speedometer.
However, whilst those changes aren’t great, even when we’ve done them the car insurance cost looks like it would be prohibitive. Quite why that should be I really don’t quite understand frankly. Yes, it’s a model of the car that was never sold here but the only difference is that it’s a diesel model and only petrol ones were sold over here. Having said that, the diesel engine was sold here in other Suzuki models so it’s not a parts issue.
Anyway, sadly it looks like we’re going to have to sell the Ignis soon as this is the last year we’ll be able to use it on the French insurance.
