Memory technologies

The size and complexity of memory technologies has been increasing rapidly in recent years with the typical 1GB of a just a couple of years ago now being replaced by 4GB drives at lower cost and even 8GB ones are becoming fairly common and at quite sensible prices too.

Alongside all the development in the SD arena has been the more sedate development in Sony’s memory stick equivalent. Although the prices are generally higher for the same amount of SD memory, there isn’t the complexity of having at least three seemingly identical memory cards that won’t work in all machines: with the Sony you’ve just got the older memory stick and the smaller Duo standard ones.
