Picking up some real estate bargains

August 4th, 2008

If you’ve the cash or can get it, this is a fantastic time to be looking for real estate bargains just about everywhere.

The bargains are at all price points too. Take, for example, Chicago Suburbs Real Estate. There you can find houses from $100k through to several million dollars but every one pitched at a price below what it would be set in normal market conditions.

Real Estate in Downers Grove covers a massive price range, of course, as it’s quite a diverse area with everything from apartments (from under $100k) and small family homes through to luxury mansions packed into a reasonably small area. That mix makes for a good selection of schools, excellent transport links along with all the other amenities that you’d expect and in a friendly environment that you might not expect.

As elsewere in the nation, the property prices when you look at Downers Grove IL Real Estate are that little bit lower than they normally would be so it could be a good time to get into the market in what looks like being one of those areas which’ll spring back quite quickly when the market does pick up once more. The areas likely to recover fastest will be those like this one where there’s good local infrastructure in place.

Have you ever forgotten to take everything from your hotel room?

August 4th, 2008

I could understand if people forgot a few things if they were in for a week or more. After all, you settle into a place when you stay that long so you’ve the cases unpacked and the drawers and wardrobes full of stuff.

But, usually, it’s not the long stayers who forget things: it’s almost always those who’ve only stayed for a night. Why they bother unpacking for an overnight stay confuses me but they do leave behind a surprisingly large amount of stuff.

Just in the last week, we’ve had glasses, clothes and even a computer. What was most confusing was the time when one family left behind what seemed almost a suitcase full of clothes. How on earth could they not miss that?

Just how quickly could you “do” Rome?

July 30th, 2008

Although it’s actually possible to see all the highlights in a single, very hectic, day, it’s much better to spread the trip out over about a week as there’s an awful lot to be seen.

What we did was very much the whistle-stop tour with an early morning flight over then a short bus tour of some of the highlights which were mainly the Colosseum that you see here and the Trevi fountain. However, we needed to part company with the bus at that point as they were heading off to the shops whilst we wanted to see the Sistine chapel and as much as we could fit in after that which turned out to be quite a lot as we managed all but the Spanish Steps on our list and could have fitted in that too if I’d not been vetoed (”We’ll miss the bus!”).

However, that’s the crazy way to see Rome. Much more sensible is to do the above over three or four days and spend the rest of the week checking out some of the other wonders of the city. For most people that means staying in a hotel but to really get the most of your time it’s better to look towards Rome vacation rental as that’ll give you a much more Italian feel to your holiday.

Although you’d think from the name that VacationRentalRome.com only runs to vacation rentals, in fact they run to B&Bs too which is potentially an even better way to see the city.
