Prague - a fairytale city
July 22nd, 2008
Prague is one of those cities that you just have to see at some point and fortunately it’s one of the easiest to get to from virtually anywhere in Europe these days.
Indeed, sometimes it seems like Prague city breaks are the only type of short break holiday around and clearly there are an awful lot of city breaks in Prague consequently there are a considerable number of people who go on them and if you want to avoid being swamped by tourists during your stay it’s best to stay well clear of the peak times.
So what can you expect? Well, this is very much a city where you’ll feel as though you’re on the set of a fairy tale movie. It’s got everything. The castle in fantastic but then so is the cathedral and the old town. But it’s not just a town of ancient relics and you’ll find trendy shops, cafes and a lively nightlife. That’s a lot to pack into a short break holiday and you’re best limiting yourself to just a few aspects of the city on your first trip (one trip just won’t be enough!).
The city changes throughout the seasons too and it’s just as popular in the winter with very much a Christmas feel to the place that few other cities truly achieve.
Prague short breaks operate throughout the year and although it’s never empty of tourists your best bet it probably to aim for the spring or autumn when you’ll find the city much less crowded with tourists.
Getting there is very easy as just about every airport around the whole of Europe seems to offer flights to Prague these days. That means both lots of options in terms of flight times and good prices too.
