Remember the days when we were all going to use the computer to store recipes?
It doesn’t seem so long ago when the PC sales people were trying to push people into buying the things so that they could store all their recipe ideas, does it?
Nowadays the justification for buying a personal computer is entirely different. Yes, I’m sure that some people really do use them to hold their recipes but that’s a very small part of what we use the things for these days. Who’d have believed even 10 years back that there would be a substantial cottage industry in the form of freelance journalists (or bloggers as we call them now)?
Who’d have even considered that the computers would now be so powerful that they could be used as video jukeboxes? Yet, it’s commonplace nowadays for people to use them to hold substantial numbers of photos and videos.
So what’ll we be doing with the things in another 10 years time when even the most humble will be considerably more powerful than the fastest supercomputer is today?
