One of the things that always surprises is just how diverse the stuff on the Internet really is.

We’re all accustomed to booking hotels and flights online and we’ve all been buying books, CDs and DVDs for many years too. However, the offerings are a good deal more diverse than that eg up until quite recently I received an invitation to buy my Christmas cake from some place in Texas. OK, you don’t really associate Texas with Christmas cakes but obviously they “do” Christmas there so there’s a shop that sells them both locally and, at least until fairly recently, online too.

I find that clothes are something of a complication to buy online but the shops selling them go out of their way to simplify the process and if you’re looking for something special and unique in terms of, say, a hat then you’ll usally find that the online store has a much, much wider range to choose from than your equivalent local shop.
