When you don’t want to be going on holiday

July 13th, 2008

Ironically the most popular days for setting off on holiday are by far the worst ones to depart. Why? Simply because everyone else is trying to do exactly the same thing which leads to higher prices and queues everywhere.

For example, the shop round the corner from us doubled the price of a whole range of products yesterday. Even worse one supermarket put a number of items in the clearance bin that were priced substantially higher than the latest product on the shelves. You’d think that people would notice that but that clearance bin is very popular yet one particular item was almost TEN TIMES the price of a better version of the same thing sitting on the normal shelves just beside it.

The queues are unbelieveable too. That’s the motorway that we drive over but the queues in the supermarket was just as bad and we gave up trying to eat in the “fast” food place as the queue stretched right outside the door.

What you’ll not see in the above photo is any of those bikers with the Harley Davidson apparel because, of course, it is one of the more perfect days to be travelling on a bike as they’ve scooted past all those cars!
