If you’re looking for a reliable car, the Japanese marques are the ones people normally look towards.
That reliability sticker used to be a synonym for boring but those days are long since gone as you can see from even the most cursory look at the range that they manufacture these days. It’s very much a complete range too with their traditional family cars now supplemented by everything from sports cars to SUVs and everything in between with a wide range of model options available for each model in the ranges.
For example, you can choose luxury in the form of the Maxima with all the features that you’d expect in a high-end automobile. If you’re after a sport sedan then the Altima will surely fit the bill for you with the responsiveness that you’d expect from this type of car or perhaps you’d like a compact sports in which case it’s the Sentra that will attract you.
In the 4wd marketplace you’ll find a selection including the Armada, Pathfinder or Xterra depending on the size of car you require and what you need to do with it. If it’s more of an about town SUV you seek then there’s the Murano which looks ordinary enough but is in reality a small scale utility vehicle inside with a selection of engine sizes to match your needs and your budget. More in the work line is the Frontier truck.
All these and more are on show at Nissan Dealer MA if you’re in the area.

Not so long ago GPS was very much a luxury item but the prices have dropped like a stone in recent years and sales have, of course, leapt upwards.
However, in a number of areas you still need some common sense to make best use of them and that’s something that a lot of people forget.
For example, we always tell people to switch off or ignore their GPS once they get on the final stretch of motorway on their way to us. Why? Well, because all the GPS devices are very consistent in making that final 20 minute drive a 2 hour marathon simply because they insist on people going down the “best” route despite the shortest and quickest route being by way of a different motorway exit.
Although we always tell people that, they always ignore us. The funny thing is that they almost always call to say that they’re within 30 minutes and I reinforce our earlier advice about ignoring the GPS. Over two hours later they arrive as the GPS has told them that they’ve come off at the wrong exit, to go back on the motorway and head north, come off again and turn round and then to drive straight past the exit we told them to get off at. Crazy, or what?

It certainly seems like that sometimes, doesn’t it?
The electronics companies have a problem in that normal TV is good enough for the majority of people. Let’s face it, who really needs a flat screen TV whilst their existing one is still working? Hence, of course, the arrival of HDTV.
Well, not exactly. As you’ll have noticed from the most cursory of glances around a TV shop, the sizes of TV screens has taken something of a leap upwards. Sure, if you replace a 26″ normal TV with a 26″ flat screen one, you don’t need HDTV but then chances are you’ll replace that 26″ model with a 42″ one and when you do, you’ll find that HDTV is actually quite a good idea after all.
Even if you don’t have that massive TV screen right now, one area where it’s worth considering an upgrade is with your camcorder. That’s taking images that you will, in due course, be viewing on a large flatscreen TV even if you don’t have one at the moment. Therefore, it’s best to buy the HD version now as you’ll not be able to upgrade the image quality later.
